Your Loyola Football Crusaders finish an outstanding season 10-2. We're proud of the way our young men matured as Football players and individuals in character. The Senior's leadership was critical in the success of our team. The underclassmen worked hard, and accepted whatever role they had in the success of our team. All the Loyola High School Football players are great examples, both on and off the field. Our younger Football players have much, to aspire to.
Our Coaching staff of: Chris Biehn, Kevin Mettler, John Landkamer, and Jeff Barnett, did a great job, not only in coaching these young men, but mentoring them in responsible and appropriate choices and behavior. There is a life-long bond between these players and coaches. These young men have memories that they will reminise about, for years to come.
Special thanks goes out to many individuals and groups that supported the Football team this year, and every year. The Fans, Parents, Friends, Mr. O'Donnell and all his staff that do the fields, concessions, chains, correspondence, and cordinating that goes into making these programs, and events happen. Our Students get opportunities of a life-time, that they are not able to get at other schools.
Good Luck to our Seniors. We know they will be successful in what ever they decide to pursue. To the returning Football players, you've seen what it takes to be successful, both on and off the field. Time to make the commitment to your teammates, your Loyola community, and yourselves, to be, the best you can be.
GO CRUSADERS!!!!!!!

Your Crusaders are going to State!! By defeating a very good LeCenter Team on Friday night, the Crusaders have qualified for the State Football Tournament. Friday's final was Loyola 45 and LeCenter 17. After a very close first half, the Crusaders broke open the game with 21 point third period. Adam Gaspar had a 55 yard field goal in the second period - second longest in State History. Eight diffierent Players carryed the ball for 347 rushing yards. Tom Montag had two interceptions in the game, which gives him 10 for the year. Great effort by all our Football Players.
Now we play Adrian Mn, which is the Section 3 Champion. That game will be this Saturday at 1:00 PM at Blakesly Field, on the campus of Minnesota State University Mankato. Any Team left playing now, will be a formitable opponent. We will be working hard to get ready for Adrian, and hope to see you there!

The Crusaders were successfull in defeating the McCleod West Falcons on Saturday, 36-14. With that win the Crusaders will play LeCenter this Friday in the Section 2A Championship game. The Crusaders came out very strong against the Falcons. Eight different players carried the ball. We completed 5 of 7 passes for for 121 yards, and three touchdowns.
Our Offensive and Defensive lines controlled the bigger Falcon linemen, which was the key to our success in this contest. We had alot of "Gang" tackling by our defense, which frustrated and discouraged thier ball carriers. Key defensive pass interceptions, stopped their drives and prevented them from scoring during the first half of play.
Being up by 36-0, we were able to get alot of our guys into the game, during the second half. Our "B" squad played most of the fourth quarter, which will give all those younger players some playoff experience.
We played LeCenter earlier in the year, and defeated them 21-20 in a very close, hard fought contest. This Friday will be no different. They are a very formitable opponent, and our games with them have always been very physical, intense and entertaining games. This Friday's contest is at Loyola Field, with a 7:00 PM start time.
Hope to see you at the Game this Friday !! Winner gets a berth in the State High School Football Tournament. Your Crusaders will be ready to Play!!!!!
Go Crusaders !!!!

It was another good night for your Loyola Crusaders, as they defeated the Granada Huntly East Chain Martin Luther Mustangs 47-20. This was the first round of the Playoffs, and now the Crusaders will play on Saturday against McCloud West, at Loyola Field, at 2:00 PM.
The Crusaders controlled the line of scrimmage, both offensively and defensively, and we amassed over 440 yards of offense. Our special teams play well, keeping our opponents with a long field, or giving our offense, a short field to work with.
Saturday's opponent - McCloud West, will be physically bigger than the Crusaders. We will need to rely on our speed and atheletism, to defeat McCloud West. We are looking forward to the challenge. Hope you can make the game, if not, catch the Crusaders on 1230 AM, "The Fan" radio.
Go Crusaders !!

The Crusaders finish the regular season 7-1, by defeating the JWP Bulldogs 56-29 on Wednesday night at Loyola Field. Many different players got in the game for the Crusaders. We rushed for over 460 yards, our offensive line did a good job of opening up holes for our running backs. We continue to execute at a high level, and were able to get all our guys in the game.
Defensively we played well. We had six interceptions, and returned one for a Touchdown. Our defense continues to play aggresive and physical style of play. We are able to mix alot of different combinations of personnel at any one time, and that will help us down the road as we go into the playoffs.
Looking at the Playoff picture, we anticipate a #1 seed in Section 2A. But that will be finalized at the Section seeding meeting on Thursday the 18th, in New Ulm, Mn. The first round of the Playoffs starts Tuesday October 23rd, and we should get a Home game. As soon as all this is finalized, I'll forward this information.

Our Crusader Football team got back on track this week, defeating the Knights of LCWM 38-8. We focused on getting our running game going. Nine different players carried the ball for 358 yards rushing. Four different players caught passes, and three different players played Quarterback for us. Defensively we had five players, with four or more tackles. Which means we had alot of players were moving aggressively around the football field.
Heading into our final regular season game we are 6-1. This week's game is on Wed. Oct. 17th, at Loyola Field. It's MEA week, so it's a Wednesday game, which means a short week of preparation. The Bulldogs of JWP, are this week's opponent. They are a pass orientated team, and will be a good test for our pass defense. Wednesday's game starts at 7:00 PM, at Loyola Field.
The Playoffs first round game is Tuesday October 23rd. The matchups for those games will be determined after Wednesday's final results, and the seeding meeting on Thursday night the 18th of October. The Crusader's play in Section 2, in the single A division. You can catch all our games on 1230 AM, "The Fan" radio station out of Mankato.

Your Crusader's came up on the short end of the score at last Friday's Homecoming game. Blooming Prairie proved to be a very formitable opponent. But we're proud of the way our players handled themselves. They continued to play hard, even thought things were not going their way. Our Coaches remained positive and reinforced good play. And our fans continued to support our players with positive cheers, and never gave up on our guys. We explained to our players, that you'll have days like this, where things are just not going to go you're way, and you have to just try to work/play through those times.
This week we have the Lake Crystal Welcome Memorial Knights, in Lake Crystal. We're going to work hard in practice this week, and do everything we can to get back, to executing to the best of our abilities. We've got some nicks and bruises that come with playing 6-7 games into the season. But nothing that our guys shouldn't be able to overcome. Lots of Football to play yet, and we're excited about playing again this Friday, October 12th in Lake Crystal Mn. Catch all our games on 1230 AM radio, the "Fan".

Your Crusader Football team continues to execute at a high level. Nine different players carried the ball, four different players caught the ball, and five different players scored touchdowns in Loyola's 50-14 defeat of the St. Clair Cyclones in St. Clair. Defensively we had six interceptions, three by Tom Montag, one of our Defensive Backs. The Defensive and Offensive lines, controlled the line of scrimmage, which is key in any successful situation.
We were able to play many players in the game which helps in the development of our younger players to the Varsity level. In the past, this has always helped with games later in the Football season, and future year's program development.
This week's Homecoming opponent is the 5-0 Blooming Prairie Blossoms. They are a very good Football Team, and will be a great challenge for your Loyola Crusaders. They will bring a wide open offensive style of Football to Loyola Field this Friday night. We're looking forward to the challenge.
You can be assured, that when our guys put on the Blue and Gold uniform, they will give you their best effort. Hope to see you this Friday night for Homecoming, or you can catch all our games on 1230 AM "The Fan" radio.

Wow, what a game!! Your Crusaders pulled one out against a very good LeCenter Football team, 21-20. Entering the fourth quarter, the Crusaders were down 20-6. But the passing game was starting to come together, and the Crusaders were able to put two scores together, and get the win. DJ Wesely was 20 for 32, and 238 yards passing, with the bulk of his passes going to Jack Michaletz, Joe Fink, and Bruce Tanhoff. The offensive line play by Toby Turbes, Brian Brandt, Rob Tanhoff, Tom Meixl, Tom Bye, and Sage Worl, was key to giving Wesely time to throw the football to his recievers.
The Defense was able to stiffen up, and hold a very good LeCenter offense in check during the fourth quarter. It was a very physical contest. We're very proud of the way our guys hung in there, and played hard and aggressive Football right to the end of the game. It's become a Loyola trademark, to never give up on a play, or opportunity during a contest. We're hopefull, that as they leave Loyola, they will take that attitude with them. It was a great night for Football, and both teams are to be commended for their effort in the contest.
We next travel to St. Clair, to face the Cylones for their Homecoming Game. They are much improved, and have some very talented players. You can hear all the Crusader Football games on "The Fan" KYSM 1230 AM radio.

Your Loyola Crusader Football Team had another successful night on Friday, the 14th of September. After giving up an early touchdown to Randolph, the Crusaders scored 31 unanswered points enroute to a 31-7 victory over the Rockets of Randolph. Three different Crusaders scored six touchdowns. Six different players carried the ball, and six different players caught passes.
The Defense continues to play aggressive football, forcing and recovering 2 fumbles by the Rockets. A lot of our players had multiple tackles and assists, which is a good indication of how we get after Teams on Defense. The Rockets only had 7 total yards passing.
This Friday brings the LeCenter Wildcats to Loyola field. We have always had very good contest with LeCenter, and I'm sure this Friday will be no exception. Both Teams come into Friday's game 3-0, and and opportunity to take the lead in the race for the Conference Title. Should be a great night for football. Hope to see this Friday at Loyola Field!!!!

Your Crusader Football Team continues to move the Football. We amassed 524 yards of offense. Four different players scored. Two scores were passes thrown by DJ Wesely. The other four were rushing touchdowns. The Final score on Sept. 7, was Loyola 41, and Providence Academy 6. Fifteen different Running Backs carried the ball for us that night. Seven different recievers caught passes.
The Defense also continues to play well. Giving up only 115 Total yards to our opponent on Friday night. Because of this type of intense play, we're able to get all our guys in the game. Even our Freshman/B-squad got to run the offense and defense, for most of the fourth quarter. This week we travel to Randolph Mn. to play the Rockets. It's a 7:00 PM start, and you can hear Crusader Football on The Fan - 1230 AM radio.
The B-Squad is also 2-0, and plays up at Providence Academy in Plymouth Mn. on the 10th of September. That's a 6:00 PM start in Plymouth.

Your Loyola Crusaders defeated the West Lutheran Warriors on Friday August 31st, 32-7. Four different Crusaders Scored Touchdowns. Four different Crusaders had interceptions on Defense. The Crusaders accumilated 339 yards of Total Offense, while giving up only 103 yards of Offense to the Warriors. Eight different Crusaders carried the football, and three different Crusaders caught passes. Our Offensive and Defensive line play looked good, which we feel is critical to our success.
This week your Crusaders are at Home, against Providence Academy out of Plymouth Mn.. We continue to work hard in practice, and will look to improve each week. The game has a 7:00 PM start at Loyola Field, with a tailgate party before the game, and the 5th Quarter at Chevy's in Mankato after the game. Loyola again hosted its annual Football Scrimage this past Saturday, August 25th. Montgomery/Lonsdale, Minnesota Valley Lutheran, St. Clair, and Loyola were the participants. All the teams worked on and looked at different plays. personnel and defensive sets. Scores are not kept, and coaches are looking to evaluate the current progress of their players and team.
Our coaching staff was pleased with what we saw overall, but we have some techniques and areas that we have room for improvement, and we will continue to work on these with our players. We came out of the scrimmage injury free, and that's always big for all the teams involved. The scrimmage also gives us a chance to "Showcase" our school and facilities. We always serve free watermelon to the participating teams, and the whole event gives our system some great P.R.
Our JV Team will open the season on Tuesday, August 28th, at Janesville/Waldorf/Pemberton, in Janesville, MN at 6:00 p.m. Our first Varsity game is on Friday, August 31st, at Academy of the Holy Angels, in Richfield, MN. Game time is 7:00 p.m., on their turf field, and we will be playing West Lutheran High School. You can hear Crusader Football on AM 1230 "The Fan."
Know that whether it's JV or Varsity, when our guys put on the Blue and Gold uniform, they will give you, and their team/school, their best effort! GO CRUSADERS!!!!!!
